CHARITY WORK DONE BY COL. BABAN MODAK

While in service, me and my wife used to do charity work in a small way ie giving clothes,money to the children of the maid and Sahayak. We used to celebrate their birthdays in our house or give clothes /money for celebration.
After retirement, we opened a Recurring Deposit a/c, in the name of a girl whose father died of AIDS and her mother started working as a maid.The R D a/c was opened on 15/02/2006 with Rs 100/- as monthly installment. It would be maturing after five years and money will go to her.
After the death of my wife , last year, I took the responsibility of helping the girl.
I put her in ENGLISH MEDIUM school , in our colony , right from KG I to KG II. There after I wanted her to put in Army Public school. The authorities stated that Unless I adopt her , legally, she will not be admitted in the A P S. Hence I decided to adopt her as my child, officially and legally. After doing so, the A P S admitted her in standard I and now she is in standard X th.
ARMY PUBLIC SCHOOL IS ONE OF THE BEST SCHOOLS IN PUNE.
I am paying for her admission, tuition and other fees as well as for her books uniforms and other sundry things required by her.
She goes to school in A P S bus, as the A P S is about 13 kms. Away. Bus fares are to be borne by me, quarterly.
If this girl comes up with flying colours, in future, that would be my greatest service to the humanity.
Besides I distribute clothes , foot wears and other goods to the watchman, labourer and their children .I also give, some times, prize of Rs 100/200 to the children of these poor people.
Since my son and daughter are well of and don’t require any help from me I have decided to start orphanage in my house and there after to a bigger place for which I have already purchased a piece of land near Ghodegaon,Tq. Ambegaon,Distt.Pune.
At Ghodegaon I purchased a flat 1BHK in Kale Corp. Housing Society,in Addition to Land, and there for the last ten years girls are staying there to take education after X th Standard, This lodging, boarding & education aid is given By me to those unprivileged girls without help from Govt.
